* lm_sensors: add fancontrol module + nixos test
fancontrol is a small script that checks temperature sensors and adapts
fan speeds accordingly. It reads a text config file that can be
auto-generated by running the pwmconfig wizard on the live system.
Rename the old ceph test to ceph-single-node and add a new test
ceph-multi-node. The ceph-single-node represents a dev cluster whereas
ceph-multi-node is closer to a prod cluster.
Let's encrypt bumped ACME to V2. We need to update our nixos test to
be compatible with this new protocol version.
We decided to drop the Boulder ACME server in favor of the more
integration test friendly Pebble.
- overriding cacert not necessary
- this avoids rebuilding lots of packages needlessly
- nixos/tests/acme: use pebble's ca for client tests
- pebble always generates its own ca which has to be fetched

Default getfacl behavior is to remove leading slash on absolute
paths in its header printed to stdout.
Before the header it will also print a message about it...
Switches -p -or --absolute-names can turn this off
and remove some noise from our tests logs.
The networking.virtual test does not work with networkd yet, for
multiple reasons:
- network-online.target is not reached, because tun0 and tap0 are
considered as required for online but _not_ brought up or assigned
the configured addresses
- the commands later in the test rely on some units from the scripted
network setup

The test has recently been failing due to the IPv6 address
on the server still being in the tentative state, when the
client sends its first request. The server will not start
using the IPv6 address until DAD has completed.
Scripted networking seems not to wait for DAD completion
before completing network-online.target, so let's switch
to networkd instead, which does.
During the last update, `hydra-notify` was rewritten as a daemon which
listens to postgresql notifications for each build[1]. The module
uses the `hydra-notify.service` unit from upstream's Hydra module and
the VM test ensures that email notifications are sent properly.
Also updated `hydra-init.service` to install `pg_trgm` on a local
database if needed[2].

We ship `https://cache.nixos.org` as binary cache by default which
automatically substitutes the test derivation used inside the Hydra
test. However it needs to be built locally to confirm that
`hydra-queue-runner` works properly.
Also inherited the platform name for the test derivation from `system`
to ensure that the build can be tested on each supported platform.

It turned out that /dev/snd/* always exists even if there are no sound
drivers loaded at all. Loading `snd` and `snd_timer` fixes that
situation. It is probably fair to assume someone that wants to use sound
also enables that in the NixOS configuration.
Add support for storing secrets in files outside the nix store, since
files in the nix store are world-readable and secrets therefore can't
be stored safely there.
The old string options are kept, since they can potentially be handy
for testing purposes, but their descriptions now state that they
shouldn't be used in production. The manual section is updated to use
the file options rather than the string options and the tests now test
both.
Always enable the UART because the VirtualBug bug that required running without the UART was fixed in 6.0.10. Stop using an old kernel version because the tests work with the default kernel.

In c814d72b51, a bunch of packages were
changed to use the pname attribute, among them were the quake3-demodata
and quake3-pointrelease which we use for the quake3 test.
Fortunately, having pname available means that we no longer need to
match using a prefix, so fixing this eval error also simplifies our
matching.
I directly pushed this to master because the change is non-controversial
and we can't break things that are already broken :-)

Since https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/61321, local-fs.target is
part of sysinit.target again, meaning units without
DefaultDependencies=no will automatically depend on it, and the manual
set dependencies can be dropped.
It turns out that checking for the last mount time of an ext4 file
system isn't a very reliable way to check whether the file system was
properly unmounted.
When creating that test in the first place (88530e02b6),
I was reluctant to inspect the file system when the VM is down and was
searching for a way to check for a clean unmount *after* the file system
was mounted again to make sure we don't need to create a 512 MB raw
image on the host.
Fortunately however, when converting from qcow2, qemu-img actually
writes a sparse file, so for most file systems (that is, file systems
supporting sparse files) this shouldn't waste a lot of disk space.
So when investigating the flakiness, I found that whenever the test is
failing, the unmount of /test-x-initrd-mount was done *before* the final
step during which systemd remounts+unmounts all the remaining file
systems.
I haven't investigated why this is the case, but the test is a
regression test for https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/35268, which
actually didn't unmount the file system *at* *all*, so really all we
need to take care here is whether the unmount has happened and not
*how*.
To make sure that checking the filesystem state is enough for this, I
temporarily replaced the $machine->shutdown call with $machine->crash
and verified that the file system state is "not clean".

* nixos/acme: Fix ordering of cert requests
When subsequent certificates would be added, they would
not wake up nginx correctly due to target units only being triggered
once. We now added more fine-grained systemd dependencies to make sure
nginx always is aware of new certificates and doesn't restart too early
resulting in a crash.
Furthermore, the acme module has been refactored. Mostly to get
rid of the deprecated PermissionStartOnly systemd options which were
deprecated. Below is a summary of changes made.
* Use SERVICE_RESULT to determine status
This was added in systemd v232. we don't have to keep track
of the EXITCODE ourselves anymore.
* Add regression test for requesting mutliple domains
* Deprecate 'directory' option
We now use systemd's StateDirectory option to manage
create and permissions of the acme state directory.
* The webroot is created using a systemd.tmpfiles.rules rule
instead of the preStart script.
* Depend on certs directly
By getting rid of the target units, we make sure ordering
is correct in the case that you add new certs after already
having deployed some.
Reason it broke before: acme-certificates.target would
be in active state, and if you then add a new cert, it
would still be active and hence nginx would restart
without even requesting a new cert. Not good! We
make the dependencies more fine-grained now. this should fix that
* Remove activationDelay option
It complicated the code a lot, and is rather arbitrary. What if
your activation script takes more than activationDelay seconds?
Instead, one should use systemd dependencies to make sure some
action happens before setting the certificate live.
e.g. If you want to wait until your cert is published in DNS DANE /
TLSA, you could create a unit that blocks until it appears in DNS:

There ver very many conflicts, basically all due to
name -> pname+version. Fortunately, almost everything was auto-resolved
by kdiff3, and for now I just fixed up a couple evaluation problems,
as verified by the tarball job. There might be some fallback to these
conflicts, but I believe it should be minimal.

This add 2 new features: ability to review generated Nginx config
(and NixOS has sophisticated generation!) and reloading
of nginx on config changes. This preserves nginx restart on package
updates.
I've modified nginx test to use this new feature and check reload/restart
behavior.

The actual only difference from the gnome3-xorg
test is that this tests the wayland session.
It's also more accurate to call it just "gnome3"
since wayland is default here.

One of the main problems of the Nextcloud module is that it's currently
not possible to alter e.g. database configuration after the initial
setup as it's written by their imperative installer to a file.
After some research[1] it turned out that it's possible to override all values
with an additional config file. The documentation has been
slightly updated to remain up-to-date, but the warnings should
remain there as the imperative configuration is still used and may cause
unwanted side-effects.
Also simplified the postgresql test which uses `ensure{Databases,Users}` to
configure the database.

When IPXE tests were added, an option was added for configuring only
the frontend, and the backend configuration was dropped entirely. This
caused most installer tests to fail.
- Create a child configuration named "Work" with an extra config file.
- Name the default configuration as "Home" :-)
- Once the VM is setup, reboot and verify that it has booted into
default configuration.
- Reboot into the "Work" configuration via grub.
- Verify that we have booted into the "Work" configuration and that
the extra config file is present.
This test works for the simple grub configuration and simple UEFI
Grub configuration. UEFI Systemd is not included in the test.
Basic test which confirms new inputs can be created and that messages
can be sent to a UDP-GELF input using `netcat`.
This test requires 4GB of RAM to avoid issues due insufficient
memory (please refer to `nixos/tests/elk.nix` for a detailed explanation of
the issue) for elasticsearch.
Also it's ensured that elasticsearch has an open HTTP port for communication
when starting `graylog`. This is a workaround to ensure that all services
are started in proper order, even in test environments with less power.
However this shouldn't be implemented in the `nixos/graylog` module as
this might be harmful when using elasticsearch clusters that require e.g.
authentication and/or run on different servers.
This commit adds new options to the Deluge service:
- Allow configuration of the user/group which runs the deluged daemon.
- Allow configuration of the user/group which runs the deluge web
daemon.
- Allow opening firewall for the deluge web daemon.
Below that it works but only when supplying a custom password file with
restricted permissions (i.e. outside the nix-store). We can't do that
using an absolute path in the tests.
Seems like you can't have a node as its own seed when it's listening on
an interface instead of an IP. At least the way it was done in the
test doesn't work and I can't figure out any other way than to just
listen on the IP address instead.
This is a simple exporter which exports the information
provided by `wg show all dump` to prometheus.

Somewhen between systemd v239 and v242 upstream decided to no longer run
a few system services with `DyanmicUser=1` but failed to provide a
migration path for all the state those services left behind.
For the case of systemd-timesync the state has to be moved from
/var/lib/private/systemd/timesync to /var/lib/systemd/timesync if
/var/lib/systemd/timesync is currently a symlink.
We only do this if the stateVersion is still below 19.09 to avoid
starting to have an ever growing activation script for (then) ancient
systemd migrations that are no longer required.

the missing migration path and related discussion.
With the systemd update to v242 five lines are not longer sufficient to
verify that the storage was verified. In order to reduce future test
failures increasing it to 10 lines sounds like a sane amount.
We differentiate between modules and baseModules in the
VM builder for NixOS tests. This way, nesting.children, eventhough
it doesn't inherit from parent, still has enough config to
actually complete the test. Otherwise, the qemu modules
would not be loaded, for example, and a nesting.children
statement would not evaluate.
This is actually very useful. Allows you to test switch-to-configuration
nesting.children is still currently still broken as it will throw
away 'too much' of the config, including the modules that make
nixos tests work in the first place. But that's something for
another time.

Quite some fixing was needed to get this to work.
Changes in VirtualBox and additions:
- VirtualBox is no longer officially supported on 32-bit hosts so i686-linux is removed from platforms
for VirtualBox and the extension pack. 32-bit additions still work.
- There was a refactoring of kernel module makefiles and two resulting bugs affected us which had to be patched.
These bugs were reported to the bug tracker (see comments near patches).
- The Qt5X11Extras makefile patch broke. Fixed it to apply again, making the libraries logic simpler
and more correct (it just uses a different base path instead of always linking to Qt5X11Extras).
- Added a patch to remove "test1" and "test2" kernel messages due to forgotten debugging code.
- virtualbox-host NixOS module: the VirtualBoxVM executable should be setuid not VirtualBox.
This matches how the official installer sets it up.
- Additions: replaced a for loop for installing kernel modules with just a "make install",
which seems to work without any of the things done in the previous code.
- Additions: The package defined buildCommand which resulted in phases not running, including RUNPATH
stripping in fixupPhase, and installPhase was defined which was not even run. Fixed this by
refactoring using phases. Had to set dontStrip otherwise binaries were broken by stripping.
The libdbus path had to be added later in fixupPhase because it is used via dlopen not directly linked.
- Additions: Added zlib and libc to patchelf, otherwise runtime library errors result from some binaries.
For some reason the missing libc only manifested itself for mount.vboxsf when included in the initrd.
Changes in nixos/tests/virtualbox:
- Update the simple-gui test to send the right keys to start the VM. With VirtualBox 5
it was enough to just send "return", but with 6 the Tools thing may be selected by
default. Send "home" to reliably select Tools, "down" to move to the VM and "return"
to start it.
- Disable the VirtualBox UART by default because it causes a crash due to a regression
in VirtualBox (specific to software virtualization and serial port usage). It can
still be enabled using an option but there is an assert that KVM nested virtualization
is enabled, which works around the problem (see below).
- Add an option to enable nested KVM virtualization, allowing VirtualBox to use hardware
virtualization. This works around the UART problem and also allows using 64-bit
guests, but requires a kernel module parameter.
- Add an option to run 64-bit guests. Tested that the tests pass with that. As mentioned
this requires KVM nested virtualization.
Ideally, private keys never leave the host they're generated on - like
SSH. Setting generatePrivateKeyFile to true causes the PK to be
generate automatically.
This is to make sure that we get different ETag values whenever we
switch to a different store path but with the same file contents.
I've checked this against the old behaviour without the patch and it
fails as expected.

Documize is an open-source alternative for wiki software like Confluence
based on Go and EmberJS. This patch adds the sources for the community
edition[1], for commercial their paid-plan[2] needs to be used.
For commercial use a derivation that bundles the commercial package and
contains a `$out/bin/documize` can be passed to
`services.documize.enable`.
The package compiles the Go sources, the build process also bundles the
pre-built frontend from `gui/public` into the binary.
The NixOS module generates a simple `systemd` unit which starts the
service as a dynamic user, database and a reverse proxy won't be
configured.

anymore, because gixy reports the following false-positive (reindented):

The reason this is a false-positive is because the destination is not a
directory, so something like "/foo.pdf../other.txt" won't work here,
because the resulting path would be ".../destfile.pdf../other.txt".
Nevertheless it's a good idea to use the exact match operator (=), to
not only shut up gixy but also gain a bit of performance in lookup (not
that it would matter in our test).

Currently if you want to properly chroot a systemd service, you could do
it using BindReadOnlyPaths=/nix/store or use a separate derivation which
gathers the runtime closure of the service you want to chroot. The
former is the easier method and there is also a method directly offered
by systemd, called ProtectSystem, which still leaves the whole store
accessible. The latter however is a bit more involved, because you need
to bind-mount each store path of the runtime closure of the service you
want to chroot.
This can be achieved using pkgs.closureInfo and a small derivation that
packs everything into a systemd unit, which later can be added to
systemd.packages.
However, this process is a bit tedious, so the changes here implement
this in a more generic way.
Now if you want to chroot a systemd service, all you need to do is:

If more than the dependencies for the ExecStart* and ExecStop* (which
btw. also includes script and {pre,post}Start) need to be in the chroot,
it can be specified using the confinement.packages option. By default
(which uses the full-apivfs confinement mode), a user namespace is set
up as well and /proc, /sys and /dev are mounted appropriately.
In addition - and by default - a /bin/sh executable is provided, which
is useful for most programs that use the system() C library call to
execute commands via shell.
Unfortunately, there are a few limitations at the moment. The first
being that DynamicUser doesn't work in conjunction with tmpfs, because
systemd seems to ignore the TemporaryFileSystem option if DynamicUser is
enabled. I started implementing a workaround to do this, but I decided
to not include it as part of this pull request, because it needs a lot
more testing to ensure it's consistent with the behaviour without
DynamicUser.
The second limitation/issue is that RootDirectoryStartOnly doesn't work
right now, because it only affects the RootDirectory option and doesn't
include/exclude the individual bind mounts or the tmpfs.
A quirk we do have right now is that systemd tries to create a /usr
directory within the chroot, which subsequently fails. Fortunately, this
is just an ugly error and not a hard failure.
The changes also come with a changelog entry for NixOS 19.03, which is
why I asked for a vote of the NixOS 19.03 stable maintainers whether to
include it (I admit it's a bit late a few days before official release,
sorry for that):

eb90d97009 broke nslcd, as /run/nslcd was
created/chowned as root user, while nslcd wants to do parts as nslcd
user.
This commit changes the nslcd to run with the proper uid/gid from the
start (through User= and Group=), so the RuntimeDirectory has proper
permissions, too.
In some cases, secrets are baked into nslcd's config file during startup
(so we don't want to provide it from the store).
This config file is normally hard-wired to /etc/nslcd.conf, but we don't
want to use PermissionsStartOnly anymore (#56265), and activation
scripts are ugly, so redirect /etc/nslcd.conf to /run/nslcd/nslcd.conf,
which now gets provisioned inside ExecStartPre=.
This change requires the files referenced to in
users.ldap.bind.passwordFile and users.ldap.daemon.rootpwmodpwFile to be
readable by the nslcd user (in the non-nslcd case, this was already the
case for users.ldap.bind.passwordFile)

In Linux 4.19 there has been a major rework of the overlayfs
implementation and it now opens files in lowerdir with O_NOATIME, which
in turn caused issues in our VM tests because the process owner of QEMU
doesn't match the file owner of the lowerdir.
The crux here is that 9p propagates the O_NOATIME flag to the host and
the guest kernel has no way of verifying whether that flag will lead to
any problems beforehand.
There is ongoing work to possibly fix this in the kernel, but it will
take a while until there is a working patch and consensus.
So in order to bring our default kernel back to 4.19 and of course make
it possible to run newer kernels in VM tests, I'm merging a small QEMU
patch as an interim solution, which we can drop once we have a working
fix in the next round of stable kernels.
Now we already had Linux 4.19 set as the default kernel, but that was
subsequently reverted in 048c36ccaa
because the patch we have used was the revert of the commit I bisected a
while ago.
This patch broke overlayfs in other ways, so I'm also merging in a VM
test by @bachp, which only tests whether overlayfs is working, just to
be on the safe side that something like this won't happen in the future.
Even though this change could be considered a moderate mass-rebuild at
least for GNU/Linux, I'm merging this to master, mainly to give us some
time to get it into the current 19.03 release branch (and subsequent
testing window) once we got no new breaking builds from Hydra.

After working on the last wireguard bump (#57534), we figured that it's
probably a good idea to have a basic test which confirms that a simple
VPN with wireguard still works.
This test starts two peers with a `wg0` network interface and adds a v4
and a v6 route that goes through `wg0`.

BTW we probably should take the closure of the whole unit rather than
just the exec commands, to handle things like Environment variables.
With this commit, there is now a "fullUnit" option, which can be enabled
to include the full closure of the service unit into the chroot.
However, I did not enable this by default, because I do disagree here
and *especially* things like environment variables or environment files
shouldn't be in the closure of the chroot.

We really do not want the *file* to end up in the chroot, but rather

Another thing is that this makes it less predictable what actually will
end up in the chroot, because we have a "globalEnvironment" option that
will get merged in as well, so users adding stuff to that option will
also make it available in confined units.

Another thing requested by @edolstra in [1]:
We should not provide a different /bin/sh in the chroot, that's just
asking for confusion and random shell script breakage. It should be
the same shell (i.e. bash) as in a regular environment.
While I personally would even go as far to even have a very restricted
shell that is not even a shell and basically *only* allows "/bin/sh -c"
with only *very* minimal parsing of shell syntax, I do agree that people
expect /bin/sh to be bash (or the one configured by environment.binsh)
on NixOS.
So this should make both others and me happy in that I could just use
confinement.binSh = "${pkgs.dash}/bin/dash" for the services I confine.

Currently, if you want to properly chroot a systemd service, you could
do it using BindReadOnlyPaths=/nix/store (which is not what I'd call
"properly", because the whole store is still accessible) or use a
separate derivation that gathers the runtime closure of the service you
want to chroot. The former is the easier method and there is also a
method directly offered by systemd, called ProtectSystem, which still
leaves the whole store accessible. The latter however is a bit more
involved, because you need to bind-mount each store path of the runtime
closure of the service you want to chroot.
This can be achieved using pkgs.closureInfo and a small derivation that
packs everything into a systemd unit, which later can be added to
systemd.packages. That's also what I did several times[1][2] in the
past.
However, this process got a bit tedious, so I decided that it would be
generally useful for NixOS, so this very implementation was born.
Now if you want to chroot a systemd service, all you need to do is:

If more than the dependencies for the ExecStart* and ExecStop* (which
btw. also includes "script" and {pre,post}Start) need to be in the
chroot, it can be specified using the chroot.packages option. By
default (which uses the "full-apivfs"[3] confinement mode), a user
namespace is set up as well and /proc, /sys and /dev are mounted
appropriately.
In addition - and by default - a /bin/sh executable is provided as well,
which is useful for most programs that use the system() C library call
to execute commands via shell. The shell providing /bin/sh is dash
instead of the default in NixOS (which is bash), because it's way more
lightweight and after all we're chrooting because we want to lower the
attack surface and it should be only used for "/bin/sh -c something".
Prior to submitting this here, I did a first implementation of this
outside[4] of nixpkgs, which duplicated the "pathSafeName" functionality
from systemd-lib.nix, just because it's only a single line.
However, I decided to just re-use the one from systemd here and
subsequently made it available when importing systemd-lib.nix, so that
the systemd-chroot implementation also benefits from fixes to that
functionality (which is now a proper function).
Unfortunately, we do have a few limitations as well. The first being
that DynamicUser doesn't work in conjunction with tmpfs, because it
already sets up a tmpfs in a different path and simply ignores the one
we define. We could probably solve this by detecting it and try to
bind-mount our paths to that different path whenever DynamicUser is
enabled.
The second limitation/issue is that RootDirectoryStartOnly doesn't work
right now, because it only affects the RootDirectory option and not the
individual bind mounts or our tmpfs. It would be helpful if systemd
would have a way to disable specific bind mounts as well or at least
have some way to ignore failures for the bind mounts/tmpfs setup.
Another quirk we do have right now is that systemd tries to create a
/usr directory within the chroot, which subsequently fails. Fortunately,
this is just an ugly error and not a hard failure.

by adding targets and curl wait loops to services to ensure services
are not started before their depended services are reachable.
Extra targets cfssl-online.target and kube-apiserver-online.target
syncronize starts across machines and node-online.target ensures
docker is restarted and ready to deploy containers on after flannel
has discussed the network cidr with apiserver.
Since flannel needs to be started before addon-manager to configure
the docker interface, it has to have its own rbac bootstrap service.
The curl wait loops within the other services exists to ensure that when
starting the service it is able to do its work immediately without
clobbering the log about failing conditions.
By ensuring kubernetes.target is only reached after starting the
cluster it can be used in the tests as a wait condition.
In kube-certmgr-bootstrap mkdir is needed for it to not fail to start.

The reason for the latter is that flannel requires all nodes to be "registered"
in the cluster in order to setup the cluster network. This means that the
kubelet is needed even at nodes on which we don't plan to schedule anything.

- All TLS-enabled ports have been deprecated and disabled by default
- EasyCert option added to support automatic cluster PKI-bootstrap
- RBAC has been enforced for all cluster components by default

This is just a set of globs to remove from the active plugins directory
after autoconfiguration is complete.
I also removed the hard-coded disabling of "diskstats", since it seems
to work just fine now.
This allows the VM to provide a `configuration.nix` file to the VM.
The test doesn't work in sandbox because it needs Internet (however it
works interactively).
The Openstack metadata service exposes the EC2 API. We use the
existing `ec2.nix` module to configure the hostname and ssh keys of an
Openstack Instance.
A test checks the ssh server is well configured.
This is mainly to reduce the size of the image (700MB). Also,
declarative features provided by cloud-init are not really useful
since we would prefer to use our `configuration.nix` file instead.
Don't add the testing "webcam" device,
which is unexpected to see when querying
what devices fwupd believes exist :).
Won't change behavior for anyone defining
the blacklistPlugin option already,
but doesn't seem worth making more complicated.
postgis: cleanup
Another part of https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/38698, though I did cleanup even more.
Moving docs to separate output should save another 30MB.
I did pin poppler to 0.61 just to be sure GDAL doesn't break again next
time poppler changes internal APIs.
* postgresql: reorganize package and it's extensions
Extracts some useful parts of https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/38698,
in particular, it's vision that postgresql plugins should be namespaced.
He prefers to contribute to his own nixpkgs fork triton.
Since he is still marked as maintainer in many packages
this leaves the wrong impression he still maintains those.
For large setups it is useful to list all databases explicit
(for example if temporary databases are also present) and store them in extra
files.
For smaller setups it is more convenient to just backup all databases at once,
because it is easy to forget to update configuration when adding/renaming
databases. pg_dumpall also has the advantage that it backups users/passwords.
As a result the module becomes easier to use because it is sufficient
in the default case to just set one option (services.postgresqlBackup.enable).
Although this can be added to `extraOptions` I figured that it makes
sense to add an option to explicitly promote this feature in our
documentation since most of the self-hosted gitea instances won't be
intended for common use I guess.
Also added a notice that this should be added after the initial deploy
as you have to register yourself using that feature unless the install
wizard is used.
Nexus increased their default minimum disk space requirement to 4GB:

Including the rest on the VM 8GB should be the most suitable solution.
As the installer test also takes 8GB of disk size this should still be
in an acceptable range.
According to systemd-nspawn(1), --network-bridge implies --network-veth,
and --port option is supported only when private networking is enabled.
Fixes#52417.
Introduces the option security.protectKernelImage that is intended to control
various mitigations to protect the integrity of the running kernel
image (i.e., prevent replacing it without rebooting).
This makes sense as a dedicated module as it is otherwise somewhat difficult
to override for hardened profile users who want e.g., hibernation to work.
Although the package itself builds fine, the module fails because it
tries to log into a non-existant file in `/var/log` which breaks the
service. Patching to default config to log to stdout by default fixes
the issue. Additionally this is the better solution as NixOS heavily
relies on systemd (and thus journald) for logging.
Also, the runtime relies on `/etc/localtime` to start, as it's not
required by the module system we set UTC as sensitive default when using
the module.
To ensure that the service's basic functionality is available, a simple
NixOS test has been added.
pkgs.owncloud still pointed to owncloud 7.0.15 (from May 13 2016)
Last owncloud server update in nixpkgs was in Jun 2016.
At the same time Nextcloud forked away from it, indicating users
switched over to that.

The intention of the previous change was to move krb5-config to .dev (it
gives the locations of headers), but it grabbed all of the user-facing
binaries too. This puts them back.
Allow switching out kerberos server implementation.
Sharing config is probably sensible, but implementation is different enough to
be worth splitting into two files. Not sure this is the correct way to split an
implementation, but it works for now.
Uses the switch from config.krb5 to select implementation.
They consistently fail since openjdk bump with some out-of-space errors.
That's not a problem by itself, but each test instance ties a build slot
for many hours and consequently they also delay channels as those wait
for all builds to finish.
Feel free to re-enable when fixed, of course.
The test now runs wayland, which means we can no longer use X11 style testing.
Instead we get gnome shell to execute javascript through its dbus interface.
Since 83b27f60ce, the tests were moved
into all-tests.nix and some of the tooling has changed so that
subattributes of test expressions are now recursively evaluated until a
derivation with a .test attribute has been found.
Unfortunately this isn't the case for all of the tests and the
runInMachine doesn't use the makeTest function other tests are using but
instead uses runInMachine, which doesn't generate a .test attribute.
Whener a .test attribute wasn't found by the new handleTest function, it
recurses down again until there is no value left that is an attribute
set and subsequently returns its unchanged value. This however has the
drawback that instead of getting different attributes for each
architecture we only get the last architecture in the supportedSystems
list.
In the case of the release.nix, the last architecture in
supportedSystems is "aarch64-linux", so the runInMachine test is always
built on that architecture.
In order to work around this, I changed runInMachine to emit a .test
attribute so that it looks to handleTest like it was a test created via
makeTest.

Docker images used to be, essentially, a linked list of layers. Each
layer would have a tarball and a json document pointing to its parent,
and the image pointed to the top layer:

The current image spec changed this format to where the Image defined
the order and set of layers:

For backwards compatibility, docker produces images which follow both
specs: layers point to parents, and images also point to the entire
list:

This is nice for tooling which supported the older version and never
updated to support the newer format.
Our `buildImage` code only supported the old version, so in order for
`buildImage` to properly generate an image based on another image
with `fromImage`, the parent image's layers must fully support the old
mechanism.
This is not a problem in general, but is a problem with
`buildLayeredImage`.
`buildLayeredImage` creates images with newer image spec, because
individual store paths don't have a guaranteed parent layer. Including
a specific parent ID in the layer's json makes the output less likely
to cache hit when published or pulled.
This means until now, `buildLayeredImage` could not be the input to
`buildImage`.
The changes in this PR change `buildImage` to only use the layer's
manifest when locating parent IDs. This does break buildImage on
extremely old Docker images, though I do wonder how many of these
exist.

GitLab 11.5.1 dropped the dependency to posix_spawn, which is broken on
32bit. (See https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/issues/53525)
The only part missing is decreasing virtualisation.memorySize to
something that a 32 bit qemu still executes.
The maximum seems to be 2047, and tests passed with that value for me.
This also includes a full end-to-end CockroachDB clustering test to
ensure everything basically works. However, this test is not currently
enabled by default, though it can be run manually. See the included
comments in the test for more information.

When reworking the rspamd workers I disallowed `proxy` as a type and
instead used `rspamd_proxy` which is the correct name for that worker
type. That change breaks peoples existing config and so I have made this
commit which allows `proxy` as a worker type again but makes it behave
as `rspamd_proxy` and prints a warning if you use it.
This commit adds an assertion that checks that either `configFile` or
`configuration` is configured for alertmanager. The alertmanager config
can not be an empty attributeset. The check executed with `amtool` fails
before the service even has the chance to start. We should probably not
allow a broken alertmanager configuration anyway.
This also introduces a test for alertmanager configuration that piggy
backs on the existing prometheus tests.
The nixos test is a bit misleading, as the given nginx configuration
would always cause gitlab to redirect to localhost, which is clearly not
what you want in a production setup.
Instead we now enable services.nginx.recommendedProxySettings,
curl against http://gitlab, and assure we get redirected to that same
hostname, too.

The drawback is that this approaches makes the

command about twice as slow (3s to 6s): it now has to evaluate `nixpkgs`
once for each architecture, instead of just having the hardcoded list of
tests that allowed to say “ok just evaluate for x86_64-linux”.
On the other hand, complete evaluation of `release.nix` should be much
faster because we no longer import `nixpkgs` for each test: testing with
the following command went from 30s to 18s, and that's just for a few
tests.

I initially wanted to test on the whole `release.nix`, but there are too
many broken tests and it takes too long to eval them all, especially
compared to the fact that the current implementation breaks some setup.
Given developers can just `nix-build nixos/tests/my-test.nix`, it sounds
like an overall win.
The `rmilter` module has options for configuring `postfix` to use it but
since that module is deprecated because rspamd now has a builtin worker
that supports the milter protocol this commit adds similar `postfix`
integration options directly to the `rspamd` module.
The lines stored in `extraConfig` and `worker.<name?>.extraConfig`
should take precedent over values from included files but in order to do
this in rspamd UCL they need to be stored in a file that then gets
included with a high priority. This commit uses the overrides option to
store the value of the two `extraConfig` options in `extra-config.inc`
and `worker-<name?>.inc` respectively.
When the workers option for rspamd was originally implemented it was
based on a flawed understanding of how workers are configured in rspamd.
This meant that while rspamd supports configuring multiple workers of
the same type, so that different controller workers could have different
passwords, the NixOS module did not support this because it would write
an invalid configuration file if you tried.
Specifically a configuration like the one below:

When implementing #49620 I included an enable option for both the
locals and overrides options but the code writing the files didn't
actually look at enable and so would write the file regardless of its
value. I also set the type to loaOf which should have been attrsOf
since the code was not written to handle the options being lists.
This fixes both of those issues.
This module permits to preload Docker image in a VM in order to reduce
OIs on file copies. This module has to be only used in testing
environments, when the test requires several Docker images such as in
Kubernetes tests. In this case,
`virtualisation.dockerPreloader.images` can replace the
`services.kubernetes.kubelet.seedDockerImages` options.
The idea is to populate the /var/lib/docker directory by mounting qcow
files (we uses qcow file to avoid permission issues) that contain images.
For each image specified in
config.virtualisation.dockerPreloader.images:
1. The image is loaded by Docker in a VM
2. The resulting /var/lib/docker is written to a QCOW file
This set of QCOW files can then be used to populate the
/var/lib/docker:
1. Each QCOW is mounted in the VM
2. Symlink are created from these mount points to /var/lib/docker
3. A /var/lib/docker/image/overlay2/repositories.json file is generated
4. The docker daemon is started.
As reported by @andir, the regular expressions that match the sandbox
output are no longer matching in the recent Chromium bump as of
bb03fbc2c8.
Instead of a boolean field that determines whether namespace sandboxes
are on, the namespace sandbox is now an enum within "Layer 1 Sandbox".
I've modified the regular expressions accordingly and also ran the test
for the stable branch, which now succeeds.

By default rspamd will look for multiple files in /etc/rspamd/local.d
and /etc/rspamd/override.d to be included in subsections of the merged
final config for rspamd. Most of the config snippets in the official
rspamd documentation are made to these files and so it makes sense for
NixOS to support them and this is what this commit does.
As part of rspamd 1.8.1 support was added for having custom Lua
rules stored in $LOCAL_CONFDIR/rspamd.local.lua which means that it is
now possible for NixOS to support such rules and so this commit also
adds support for this to the rspamd module.
Rationale
---------
Currently, tests are hard to discover. For instance, someone updating
`dovecot` might not notice that the interaction of `dovecot` with
`opensmtpd` is handled in the `opensmtpd.nix` test.
And even for someone updating `opensmtpd`, it requires manual work to go
check in `nixos/tests` whether there is actually a test, especially
given not so many packages in `nixpkgs` have tests and this is thus most
of the time useless.
Finally, for the reviewer, it is much easier to check that the “Tested
via one or more NixOS test(s)” has been checked if the file modified
already includes the list of relevant tests.
Implementation
--------------
Currently, this commit only adds the metadata in the package. Each
element of the `meta.tests` attribute is a derivation that, when it
builds successfully, means the test has passed (ie. following the same
convention as NixOS tests).
Future Work
-----------
In the future, the tools could be made aware of this `meta.tests`
attribute, and for instance a `--with-tests` could be added to
`nix-build` so that it also builds all the tests. Or a `--without-tests`
to build without all the tests. @Profpatsch described in his NixCon talk
such systems.
Another thing that would help in the future would be the possibility to
reasonably easily have cross-derivation nix tests without the whole
NixOS VM stack. @7c6f434c already proposed such a system.
This RFC currently handles none of these concerns. Only the addition of
`meta.tests` as metadata to be used by maintainers to remember to run
relevant tests.

I used tmpfiles.d instead of activation snippets to create the logs.
It's good enough for upstream and other distros; it's probably good
enough for us.
The "reboot-wtmp" subtest fails because it it assumes that there is a
reboot record even on the initial boot. This is only the case if wtmp is
created within the activation script, but the implementation now uses
tmpfiles.d, so the creation of the file is done at a much later stage.
Apart from that, if you think about the state after the installation as
"first boot", using the term "reboot" wouldn't probably make sense
either.
So in our subtest, we now reboot the machine and check the wtmp record
afterwards as we did before.

The test failed on Hydra in one instance because a request to the
server was sent before indexing was finished.
Retry the request until it succeeds (or times out).
The test failed in one run on Hydra, logs look like
dhcpcd changed ipv6 routing at just the wrong time.
Disable dhcpcd. It's not needed, the test uses static IPs anyway.
Test didn't run because it tried to create a VM with 4096M RAM
but qemu-system-i386 has a hard 2047M memory limit.
- reduce memory to 2047M on i686.
- increase timeout 300s -> 1800s because the tests are much slower
on i686 and timed out.
The `pkgs.yabar` package is relatively old (2016-04) and contains
several issues fixed on master. `yabar-unstable` containsa recent master
build with several fixes and a lot of new features (I use
`yabar-unstable` for some time now and had no issues with it).
In the upstream bugtracker some bugs could be fixed on ArchLinux by
simply installing `yabar-git` (an AUR package which builds a recent
master).
To stabilize the module, the option `programs.yabar.package` now
defaults to `pkgs.yabar-unstable` and yields a warning with several
linked issues that are known on `pkgs.yabar`.
The test has been refactored as well to ensure that `yabar` actually
starts (and avoid non-deterministic random success) and takes a
screenshot of a very minimalistic configuration on IceWM.

This attempts to improve stability of the test by using existing
services for miniupnpd and transmission.
It also uses explicit addresses for the network interfaces so that the
external IP addresses are valid internet addresses (thus fixing
validation problems from upnpc).
Also disable eth0 from being used to transfer torrents over without that
being the intention.

The switch to lightdm as default display manager in #30890
broke eval of the flatpak test. Since the test uses the
auto display manager (lightdm), gdm must now be explicitly disabled.
Since 1b11fdd0df the test VM
depends on some extra packages to build the system to be installed.
This broke the installer test as it tried to download/build these
packages in a sandbox.
Switch from slim to lightdm as the display-manager.
If plasma5 is used as desktop-manager use sdddm.
If gnome3 is used as desktop-manager use gdm.

The wallpaper used is *structurally compatible* with the other one,
meaning that the logo is at the same location, and not bigger.
It has one drawback: the logo is brighter, which clashes with the grub
usage. This is to be fixed with new options in grub.
The test sporadically failed on hydra when a request was made
before the service was actually listening on its port.
Explicitly wait for the port to open.
Since matrix-synapse 0.33.0 underscores in server names are rejected
by server name validation, causing the test to fail:
valueError: Server name 'server_sqlite' contains invalid characters

This bumps Hydra to the latest revision available. As Hydra doesn't have
a release model (and therefore no tags) ATM, the derivation will pin
against the actual git revision and the date of the commit in the
derivation name.
Additionally the following changes have been made:
* Dropped `postUnpack` phase. It is useful when working with the Hydra
source (and no dirty changes shall be used in `release.nix`, but is has
no use in `nixpkgs`).
* Added myself as maintainer to have more folks available in case of
future breakage.
* Implemented support for Nix 2.0 and `unstable` (currently 2.1):
Since 1672bcd230447f1ce0c3291950bdd9a662cee974 in NixOS/nix the
evaluator differentiates between `settings` and `evalSettings`.
Previously `restrictEval` in `hydra-eval-jobs.cc` has been set in
`settings`, this doesn't work anymore in Nix 2.1 and is therefore
incompatible to Nix 2.0 on an API level.
To resolve this, the flag `isGreaterNix20` parses the version string
of `pkgs.nix` and applies a patch if nix.version<=2.0.
Furthermore the Hydra build with Nix 2.1 requires `boost` as build input
which is not needed for Nix 2.0. To avoid unnecessary increase in the
closure size this library will only used as build input for
nix.version>2.0.
* Fixed the NixOS test for `hydra`:
disabled binary cache to allow sandbox builds (otherwise it would
query `cache.nixos.org` during the Hydra build inside the test).
Additionally the trivial.nix jobset required simplification (as done
in NixOS/hydra, e.g. tests/api-test.nix) as bash is not available in
the build sandbox as builder (even when adding pkgs.bash to
systemPackages).
The easiest workaround to confirm a the functionality of a jobset
without importing nixpkgs is to use the default shell /bin/sh which
is mounted from `pkgs.busybox` into the build env
(https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/44841#discussion_r209751972) in the
VM and a named pipe to create $out.

Since a9d69a74d6, the passphrase prompt
now no longer starts with "Enter passphrase for" but now it's just
"Passphrase for", which causes the luksroot installer test to fail.
I've tested this on a x86_64-linux machine and the test now succeeds.

The web_access.patch would no longer apply.
It disabled a check that required the static files
for the web UI to be owned by the user the daemon runs as
(not root, so it doesn't work well with nix).
Besides updating netdata, this commit removes that patch,
changes the netdata service config to set the "web files owner/group"
option to "root" and adds a test that checks that the web UI is being served.
This allows the web files to be owned by root without patching.

Since 4f6df27aee, nix.useSandbox defaults
to true which causes the Nix build within the containers-imperative test
to fail while trying to hardlink files into the chroot:
link("/nix/store/foo", "/nix/store/bar.drv.chroot/nix/store/foo")
= -1 EPERM (Operation not permitted)
The reason this happens is that the hosts store is mounted using 9p and
an overlayfs is mounted on top, so even if we would disable the tmpfs
for the upper directory the hardlink would still cross filesystem
boundaries, which then fails with the above error code.
I haven't yet seen any other test which fails in a similar way, which
might be because building within VM tests is not very common and the
installer tests build in a separate store, so they're not affected.

* `elasticsearch6`, `logstash6` and `kibana6` now come with X-Pack which is
a suite of additional features. These are however licensed under the unfree
"Elastic License".
* Fortunately they also provide OSS versions which are now packaged
under: `elasticsearch6-oss`, `logstash6-oss` and `kibana6-oss`.
Note that the naming of the attributes is consistent with upstream.

Pointless renames considered harmful. All they do is force people to
spend extra work updating their configs for no benefit, and hindering
the ability to switch between unstable and stable versions of NixOS.
Like, what was the value of having the "nixos." there? I mean, by
definition anything in a NixOS module has something to do with NixOS...
This makes the command ‘nix-env -qa -f. --arg config '{skipAliases =
true;}'’ work in Nixpkgs.

In 0c7c1660f7 I have set allowSubstitutes
to false, which avoided the substitution of the certificates.
Unfortunately substitution may still happen later when the certificate
is merged with the CA bundle. So the merged CA bundle might be
substituted from a binary cache but the certificate itself is built
locally, which could result in a different certificate in the bundle.
So instead of adding just yet another workaround, I've now hardcoded all
the certificates and keys in a separate file. This also moves
letsencrypt.nix into its own directory so we don't mess up
nixos/tests/common too much.
This was long overdue and should finally make the dependency graph for
the ACME test more deterministic.

Since e95f17e272, Go packages no longer
contain the source tree, however Boulder seems to need that as it
generates a few files during build.
Ideally we would only pick the files that are needed and put it into a
separate output, but I currently don't have time for this so I'm marking
this with XXX to get back to it later.

Since IP address options were changed for 18.03, eval has failed with:
"The option `networking.interfaces.eth1.subnetMask' is used but not defined."
although this option is not used at all in nixos anymore.
The misleading error message seems to be generated from evaluating warnings
for `mkRemovedOptionModule ["subnetMask"]` which apparently broke here
when this test inherited network.interfaces from one VM config to another.

If one of the certificates of the chain gets substituted from a binary
cache and the rest is generated locally it might turn out that we get
invalid certificates, which in turn cause tests using this module to
fail.
So let's set allowSubstitutes to false for all derivations that are
involved with certificate/key generation.

This change adds NixOS tests for the MPD (Music Player Daemon) module.
Tests include:
- Playing audio locally using ALSA directly.
- Playing audio locally using PulseAudio (backed by ALSA).
- Playing audio from an external client.
- Rejecting an external client when it's not explicitly allowed (default configuration).

A script is used to create a project, and configure a jobset. This
jobset fetches a local file containing a trivial Nix expression. The
test script makes sure this derivation has been successfully built by
Hydra.
While building the container there are a few occasions where stdenvNoCC
is used underneath. During the last staging merge, some change now tries
to build texinfo during the test while building stdenvNoCC.
With this change, I'm adding stdenvNoCC to the closure to make sure that
even when we have future stdenv changes, it doesn't break (well, except
if we do have another variation like stdenvNoCC that overrides stdenv).
I haven't bisected the exact change, but I'd suspect that it could be
one of the commits in #39457.
This fixes the test and it no longer fails with the following error:

BIND doesn't allow the options section (or any section I'd guess) to be
defined more than once, so whenever you want to set an additional option
you're stuck using weird hacks like this:
services.bind.forwarders = lib.mkForce [ "}; empty-zones-enable no; #" ];
This basically exploits the fact that values coming from the module
options aren't escaped and thus works in a similar vain to how SQL
injection works.
Another option would be to just set configFile to a file that includes
all the options, including zones. That obviously makes the configuration
way less extensible and more awkward to use with the module system.
To make sure this change does work correctly I added a small test just
for that. The test could use some improvements, but better to have a
test rather than none at all. For a future improvement the test could be
merged with the NSD test, because both use the same zone file format.
This change has been reviewed in #40053 and after not getting any
opposition, I'm hereby adding this to master.

VMs were starving, many of the daemons were unable to complete their
tasks resulting in tests failures.
Turned off verbose output from k8s components as it consumes even more resources, and useful error messages actually drown in debug-clutter
1) Change start-type to ```notify``` when running MariaDB so that we don't have to busy-wait for the
socket to appear.
2) Do not manually create the directory under /run as we can get systemd to do
that for us. This opens up the possibility later for not having to launch as root.
`xsslock` (which was originally packaged in 6cb1d1aaaf)
is a simple screensaver which connects a given screen locker (e.g.
`i3lock`) with `logind`. Whenever `loginctl lock-sessions` is invoked
the locker will be used to lock the screen. This works with its power
management features (e.g. `lid switch`) as well, so the PC can be locked
automatically when the lid is closed.
The module can be used like this:

`statsd` is a daemon written in `node` to gather statistics over UDP.
The current test ensures that a port is open, but the basic
functionality isn't sufficiently tested.
This patch contains the following changes:
* Simplified port scanning (`waitForOpenPort` rather than `netcat` magic).
* Issue a TCP command to check the health of the `statsd` server.
* Simple script to check if `statsd` receives data over UDP and confirms
the basic functionality of the TCP interface on `8126` for admin
purposes.
In commit 17dd7bcd89 the systemd unit
generator now uses lndir instead of "ln -s", so we need to have lndir
available in the Nix store for the installer tests to be able to build
the units and thus the whole system.
This should fix the installer tests, although I have only tested it with
the "simple" subtest.

The original `nexus` derivation required `/run/sonatype-work/nexus3`
which explicitly depended on the NixOS path structure.
This would break `nexus` for everyone using `nixpkgs` on a non-NixOS
system, additionally the module never created `/run/sonatype-work`, so
the systemd unit created in `services.nexus` fails as well. The issue
wasn't actively known as the `nixos/nexus` test wasn't registered in
Hydra (see #40257).
This patch contains the following changes:
* Adds `tests.nexus` to `release.nix` to run the test on Hydra.
* Makes JVM parameters configurable: by default all JVM options were located
in `result/bin/nexus.vmoptions` which made it quite hard to patch
these parameters. Now it's possible to override all parameters by
running `VM_OPTS_FILE=custom-nexus.vmoptions ./result/bin/nexus run`
(after patching the `nexus` shell script), additionally it's possible
to override these parameters with `services.nexus.vmoptions`.
* Bumped Nexus from 3.5.1 to 3.11.0
* Run the `nexus` test on Hydra with `callTest` in `nixos/release.nix`,
furthermore the test checks if the UI is available on the specified
port.
* Added myself as maintainer for the NixOS test and the package to have
some more people in case of further breakage.
* Added sufficient disk space to the `nexus` test, otherwise the service
fails with the following errors:

This introduces an option that allows us to turn off stateful generation
of Diffie-Hellman parameters, which in some way is still "stateful" as
the generated DH params file is non-deterministic.
However what we can avoid with this is to have an increased surface for
failures during system startup, because generation of the parameters is
done during build-time.
Aside from adding a NixOS VM test it also restructures the type of the
security.dhparams.params option, so that it's a submodule.
A new defaultBitSize option is also there to allow users to set a
system-wide default.
I added a release notes entry that described what has changed and also
included a few notes for module developers using this module, as the
first usage already popped up in NixOS/nixpkgs#39507.

This allows to set the default bit size for all the Diffie-Hellman
parameters defined in security.dhparams.params and it's particularly
useful so that we can set it to a very low value in tests (so it doesn't
take ages to generate).
Regardless for the use in testing, this also has an impact in production
systems if the owner wants to set all of them to a different size than
2048, they don't need to set it individually for every params that are
set.
I've added a subtest to the "dhparams" NixOS test to ensure this is
working properly.

When trying to run NSD to serve the root zone, one gets the following
error message:
error: illegal name: '.'
This is because the name of the zone is used as the derivation name for
building the zone file. However, Nix doesn't allow derivation names
starting with a period.
So whenever the zone is "." now, the file name generated is "root"
instead of ".".
I also added an assertion that makes sure the user sets
services.nsd.rootServer, otherwise NSD will fail at runtime because it
prevents serving the root zone without an explicit compile-time option.
Tested this by adding a root zone to the "nsd" NixOS VM test.

The following changes have been applied:
- the property `http.headers.X-Content-Type-Options` must a list of
strings rather than a serialized list
- instead of `/etc/docker/registry/config.yml` the configuration will be
written with `pkgs.writeText` and the store path will be used to run
the registry. This reduces the risk of possible impurities by relying
on the Nix store only.
- cleaned up the property paths to easy readability and reduce the
verbosity.
- enhanced the testcase to ensure that digests can be deleted as well
- the `services.docker-registry.extraConfig` object will be merged with
`registryConfig`

Some time ago I fixed the broken package `osquery` (see #39336).
I had to test the package manually by starting the daemon locally,
however this doesn't ensure that the module is still functional.
In order to cover the package *and* the integration with the NixOS
module I thought that adding a testcase might be the best idea.
The current testcase does the following things:
* Starts an `osqueryd` service in a test machine with customized logger
path and PID file
* Ensures that the `osqueryd.service` unit is running
* Checks if the customized flags (`pidfile`, `logger_path`) are applied
to `osquery`.
* Performs a simple test query against the `etc_hosts` database to check
if the basic funcitonality of `osquery` (storing system information into
a database) works fine.
The usb_add and usb_del monitor commands have been removed in QEMU
version 2.12 (introduced in 3e3b39f173).

I'm not sure why 024b501907 used -q 0
because even netcat-openbsd has the -N flag which IMO is the better way
to shutdown the socket on EOF.
Our default netcat implementation has changed once again[1] in
3c3b82234a and we're now using LibreSSL's
implementation, which doesn't have a -q flag.

The Nix expression here is really hard to read with multiple (and
unnecessarily) nested lets and it also generates attribute names based
on the derivation generated by makeTest, which will result in these
attribute names:
* vm-test-run-predictableInterfaceNames
* vm-test-run-predictableInterfaceNames-with-networkd
* vm-test-run-unpredictableInterfaceNames
* vm-test-run-unpredictableInterfaceNames-with-networkd
With the refactor the attribute names are now:
* predictable
* predictableNetworkd
* unpredictable
* unpredictableNetworkd
So now the code is even shorter and IMHO slightly more readable.

This is a very very very ugly workaround and it's because Chromium seems
to eat keystroke for a few seconds after a new window is created.
I haven't found a better solution yet, so let's at least unbreak the
test until we come up with a better way.
Thanks to @vcunat for bringing this to my attention and also doing the
initial bisect.
The change that brought up this problem was 2b29e40153,
which updated Chromium from version 65.0.3325.181 to version
66.0.3359.117. Unfortunately the upstream changelog[1] is way too large
to actually guess what the breaking change is.

This option allows us to turn off stateful generation of Diffie-Hellman
parameters, which in some way is still stateful as the generated DH
params file is non-deterministic.
However what we can avoid with this is to have an increased surface for

done during build-time.
Another advantage of this is that we no longer need to take care of
cleaning up the files that are no longer used and in my humble opinion I
would have preferred that #11505 (which puts the dhparams in the Nix
store) would have been merged instead of #22634 (which we have now).
Luckily we can still change that and this change gives the user the
option to put the dhparams into the Nix store.
Beside of the more obvious advantages pointed out here, this also
effects test runtime if more services are starting to use this (for
example see #39507 and #39288), because generating DH params could take
a long time depending on the bit size which adds up to test runtime.
If we generate the DH params in a separate derivation, subsequent test
runs won't need to wait for DH params generation during bootup.
Of course, tests could still mock this by force-disabling the service
and adding a service or activation script that places pre-generated DH
params in /var/lib/dhparams but this would make tests less readable and
the workaround would have to be made for each test affected.
Note that the 'stateful' option is still true by default so that we are
backwards-compatible with existing systems.

We're going to implement an option which allows us to turn off stateful
handling of Diffie-Hellman parameter files by putting them into the Nix
store.
However, modules now might need a way to reference these files, so we
add a now path option to every param specified, which carries a
read-only value of the path where to find the corresponding DH params
file.
I've also improved the description of security.dhparams.params a bit so
that it uses <warning/> and <note/>.
The NixOS VM test also reflects this change and checks whether the old
way to specify the bit size still works.

We're going to make changes to the dhparams module so we really want to
make sure we don't break it, so having a NixOS VM test is to make sure

but not yet decorated by the window manager.
also prevent a (never observed but possible) race condition
HA doesn't mind the configuration being JSON instead of YAML but since YAML is
the official language, use that as it allows users to easily exchange config
data with other parties in the community.
The commit c6f7d43678 changed the system
attribute to be below config.nixpkgs.localSystem, but the test still
uses the old attribute.
I have not tested whether the test actually succeeds but just checked
whether evaluation works and it evaluates successfully now.

This patch is heavily inspired by bd0d8ed807 which added
a setcap wrapper for `mtr` in order to allow running `mtr` without
`sudo`. The need for the capability `cap_net_raw` that can be registered using
`setcap` has been documented in the Arch Wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Capabilities#iftop
A simple testcase has been added which starts two machines, one with a
setcap wrapper for `iftop`, one without. Both testcases monitor the
bandwidth usage of the machine using the options `-t -s 1` once, the
machine with setcap wrapper is expected to succeed, the `iftop` on the
machine without setcap wrapper is expected to return a non-zero exit
code.

The psmouse module is for PS/2 mouse only, which doesn't exist outside
x86. But we can test for the mousedev module just as well which is used
for the '-device usb-tablet' emulated by QEMU.
