Nature of Damage: Affects system run-time operation. Corrupts program or

||
overlay files.

||

Detected by: Scanv56+, F-Prot, IBM Scan, Pro-Scan.

Suriv01 and Suriv02 appeared at about the same time, first
|
||
discovered in Israel. They were shortly merged into one virus, (Suriv03)
|
||
which evolved into the well-known Jerusalem virus. That virus was then
|
||
used as a basis for the Fu Manchu virus.
|
||
|
||
On April 1, if an infected program is run, it will display the
|
||
message "APRIL 1ST HA HA HA YOU HAVE A VIRUS", then lock up the system.
|
||
This virus contains the identifying text string "sURIV 1.01".
|
||
