What it is

This crack removes the doc check, so the program will accept any input,
|
||
even a simple return will do.
|
||
I have playtested it for an hour, and didn't find any strange thing going
|
||
on, but if you do, please leave a msg. on Getaway.
|
||

How to install
|
||
|
||
Just unzip all the files into the program directory and run PATCHER,
|
||
or PATCHER /R to undo/reverse the crack.
|
||

Nexus USA who released this game at 11 november wrote this:

Yeah...This is one of the greatest car racing game i've ever seen...
|
||
This may look strange but we couldn't make a 'usual' crack for it,
|
||
but it's too good to wait more... So we included all the passwords,
|
||
you really ALWAYS can answer the query with the included textfile.
|
||
The difficulty wasn't in the protection itself but in the envi-
|
||
ronment : this game,at the moment when i write these words,is really
|
||
IMPOSSIBLE to debug...We tried all the existing debugging programs
|
||
but none of them worked. Now the challenge is there,who will be the
|
||
1st to release a real byte crack for this game...? I guess a new
|
||
debug utility should permit it really soon. We really don't like
|
||
such way to proceed, but this time there was no other way.
|
||
As some other group don't crack their wares also, i guess this is
|
||
cool, as you really can play the game once you printed the textfile.
|
||
So do it now, print INDYCAR.DOC included in the 3 disks.
|
||
Anyway, we'll release a crack patch as soon as it'll be possible.
|
||
|
||
It has now been 10 days, and no crack have turned up, so I decided to
|
||
try myself. There is at least one debugger? that can handle programs
|
||
that uses DOS4GW from Rational Systems, but since the extender was
|
||
binded to the exe file, you have to know what you are doing?.
|
||
Now inside the program and debugging, the program steals the keyboard
|
||
interrupt, and thats not good, since the doc check is keyboard input
|
||
only. The only thing to do?.
|
||
Now it's possible to get to the doc check with the keyboard intact,
|
||
but it isn't a easy crack, remember the good old Sierra and Lucas
|
||
games, where the program ran in one big loop and called the same routines
|
||
(something like in Windows)?
|
||
But if one look long enough in a rational manner, one will finally
|
||
find a place? to make a clean! (I hope) crack.
|
||
If you can answer yes to all the questions, you! could have done the
|
||
crack yourself.
|
||
