HDLC
====
High-level Data Link Control. A bit-oriented, synchronous protocol
that ensures transmission error checking by means of line control
information bits. For high-speed communi- cations protocols, line
control information bits are placed in a frame at a distinctive
place, have no relation to alphabet sets, and are used for control
purposes. When a frame is received by the destination DTE, checks
are made to ensure that all information bits are present. Error frames
are detected and retransmitted automatically. HDLC protocol places
these bits in a standard format within the frame; therefore, error
checking is conducted in less time and with fewer errors.

A set of dial-up lines; when a call is made to the pilot number

(number of the first line) and it is busy, the call is routed to the

first nonbusy line after the pilot number, according to a predetermined
