*Date service discontinued, if known, or best estimate thereof based on
repeated "no answer," "phone disconnected" or other indications, including
caller feedback.
A few of these discontinued BBSs reportedly moved to other cities. Most
simply closed down. We have never been able to confirm that several of them
them ever were online, although their names still may still appear on some
other local boards' BBS lists. Where known, the name (or handle) of the
respective system operator appears in parenthesis.
Information on the fate or current whereabouts of any of these BBSs would be
appreciated, of course. We really need help with "date discontinued" on a
number of them. Please let us know of any inaccuracies, too.
You can reach us at wbowen@unt.edu or wb@chatter.com on the Internet
or as User #1 on The Mezzanine BBS, 940-565-9165. FidoNet netmail may be
addressed to Walter Bowen, 1:393/11. Thanks, as always, for your help
in keeping up with this information!
This list is maintained for historical purposes as a courtesy to the Denton
BBSing community. My special thanks go to Derek Wakefield, Roger Etheredge
and Michael Lynn who contributed substantially to this effort over the
years.
For best results when displaying or printing this list, use a 9 or 12 point
monospaced font that supports extended ASCII characters. The extended
character set is necessary to properly display the "line graphics" contained
in the document.
