<EFBFBD> by Richard D. Siegfried <20>

<EFBFBD> Oklahoma Director of Investigations <20>

<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>The evolution of the comprehension of the UFO phenomenon and<6E>
<EFBFBD>related subjects has, by April, 1993, accepted to some <20>
<EFBFBD>degree such extraordinary happenings as abductions, cattle <20>
<EFBFBD>mutilations, and even so-called Bigfoot sightings. I guess <20>
<EFBFBD>it is time for me to acquiesce and consider the really far- <20>
<EFBFBD>out subject of the infamous Men In Black. I don't like to <20>
<EFBFBD>think about them for I have always thought the subject not a<>
<EFBFBD>little silly. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>Since 1977, the year of my great enlightenment, Men In Black<63>
<EFBFBD>have been mentioned to me by a few citizens. In fact, around<6E>
<EFBFBD>1979, at an Ohio UFO Investigators public presentation in <20>
<EFBFBD>Cincinnati, Ohio, my friends and I may have encountered two <20>
<EFBFBD>of the "creatures." <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>During the registration for the conference two men entered <20>
<EFBFBD>the lobby. They were dressed in very neat dark suits, <20>
<EFBFBD>sported very GI haircuts and what looked like Air Force <20>
<EFBFBD>regulation dress shoes. The twosome would not speak to <20>
<EFBFBD>anyone. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>Neither would they register, although they paid the <20>
<EFBFBD>admission fee. Actually I have always thought that they were<72>
<EFBFBD>Air Force Intelligence agents who forgot to change their <20>
<EFBFBD>shoes. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>But then, at the end of the program we were walking down a <20>
<EFBFBD>long corridor leading to our vehicles. The two mystery men <20>
<EFBFBD>were walking ahead of us. We were laughing and talking <20>
<EFBFBD>rather loudly. Both men turned and looked at us. At that <20>
<EFBFBD>point the corridor made a right angle turn. They rounded the<68>
<EFBFBD>corner. Although we were probably no more than forty or <20>
<EFBFBD>fifty feet behind them by the time we turned the corner the <20>
<EFBFBD>two men had disappeared. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>We were all astonished. We looked for a door that they could<6C>
<EFBFBD>have ducked into and at the same time were wondering why <20>
<EFBFBD>they would do that. Three of us ran to the outside door and <20>
<EFBFBD>looked around the parking lot. They were gone. Unless they <20>
<EFBFBD>did duck into one of the unmarked doors what they did was <20>
<EFBFBD>inhuman. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>Some years later a married couple moved into an apartment <20>
<EFBFBD>complex just two blocks from my residence. The lady, a <20>
<EFBFBD>nurse, had had some very unusual experiences. Somehow she <20>
<EFBFBD>had found out that I was a MUFON investigator and came down <20>
<EFBFBD>to the house to discuss her situation. I can't remember what<61>
<EFBFBD>she told me. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>But, I do remember what her husband said. They had moved <20>
<EFBFBD>from Akron, Ohio. While there the husband became the leader<65>
<EFBFBD>of a rather healthy UFO group of citizens. He would rent <20>
<EFBFBD>part of the enormous hangar of the Goodyear Blimp and <20>
<EFBFBD>conduct meetings in it. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>Since it was so long ago I can't recall how the warnings <20>
<EFBFBD>began but eventually the Men In Black became involved in an <20>
<EFBFBD>attempt to scare him off. He didn't scare. That is, he <20>
<EFBFBD>didn't become frightened until his little giris told him <20>
<EFBFBD>that two men, in dark suits and hats, driving a large black <20>
<EFBFBD>automobile, were following them to and from school. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>The implication was clear. Either he stop his UFO activities<65>
<EFBFBD>or something would happen to the children. That is when the <20>
<EFBFBD>family moved to Dayton. The gentleman would have nothing to <20>
<EFBFBD>do with any UFO organization. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>There was no reason for me to doubt the authenticity of the <20>
<EFBFBD>story. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>Somewhere around the end of the 1970s the Men In Black were <20>
<EFBFBD>made known to me again. That time, I felt, the story was <20>
<EFBFBD>filled with humor. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>I taught a senior high school class in Anthropology. There <20>
<EFBFBD>were two sisters, who were my students. Their heritage was <20>
<EFBFBD>part Native American. In fact, their mother was a Native <20>
<EFBFBD>American from South America. <20>
<EFBFBD>Mrs. X was a citizen of Chile. During the terrible days of <20>
<EFBFBD>the Chilean revolution and the following years of <20>
<EFBFBD>dictatorship she became involved in supporting Allende, the <20>
<EFBFBD>legitimate Communist presidente of that suffering nation. <20>
<EFBFBD>Then, the Communists were thrown out of office, with what <20>
<EFBFBD>seems to be considerable support from the United States <20>
<EFBFBD>intelligence community, Mrs. X, realizing that the Communist<73>
<EFBFBD>leader was far better for her country than the military <20>
<EFBFBD>dictator, became quite vocal. Prudence dictated that they <20>
<EFBFBD>flee while they were still alive. They went to Brazil. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>The father and the daughters, my students, were American <20>
<EFBFBD>citizens and I think the wife also was a U.S. citizen. <20>
<EFBFBD>Peculiar things happened and they were unable to leave <20>
<EFBFBD>Brazil for the United States. A long time passed and finally<6C>
<EFBFBD>they made good their exit from Brazil before the authorities<65>
<EFBFBD>could catch on to their plan for legally leaving Brazil. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>Both parents were professors at one of the Ohio state <20>
<EFBFBD>universities. Both came in and lectured to my students about<75>
<EFBFBD>the primitive natives of South America and other peoples of <20>
<EFBFBD>the world. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>One day the gentleman told me about their experience with <20>
<EFBFBD>Men In Black. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>At that time the family lived in a community east of Dayton.<2E>
<EFBFBD>By the time I had met them, the mother and both daughters, <20>
<EFBFBD>because of their heritage, had been accepted into the local,<2C>
<EFBFBD>urban, Shawnee Tribal Council. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>What happened to them next is what we wish would never <20>
<EFBFBD>happen in America. Someone was watching them. They <20>
<EFBFBD>discussed the problem and decided that either a foreign or <20>
<EFBFBD>United States intelligence organization was watching them <20>
<EFBFBD>and at the same time intimidating them by being obvious. <20>
<EFBFBD>They didn't consider the situation dangerous. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>One evening two members of the Shawnee Indian Nation visited<65>
<EFBFBD>the family's home. The men in that council are large, for <20>
<EFBFBD>the most part; very impressive physical specimens; proud <20>
<EFBFBD>descendants of the famous Tecumseh. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>Somewhere in the course of the conversation the one Native <20>
<EFBFBD>American said, "There are two guys sitting out there in the <20>
<EFBFBD>alley watching your house. What's going on?" <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>The response was, "Oh, those two sit out there about every <20>
<EFBFBD>night. Don't worry about them. But they do make us nervous."<22>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>The Shawnee replied, "Don't worry about them. We'll take <20>
<EFBFBD>care of it." <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>The next night the black vehicle was once again parked in <20>
<EFBFBD>the alley, both men, clad in dark clothing, were watching <20>
<EFBFBD>the house. Suddenly the two Shawnee appeared, one on each <20>
<EFBFBD>side of the car. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>"Hey, man! What are you doing out here in the dark?" <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>The car windows were rolled down and the occupants had no <20>
<EFBFBD>recourse but to respond. "Nothing. Just sitting here. We <20>
<EFBFBD>aren't doing anything." <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>"Yes you are," said the deep voice of one of the Indians. <20>
<EFBFBD>You are bothering our friends inside the house." <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>"No. We're just sitting here." <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>"Look, man, we say you are. Do you know what's behind your <20>
<EFBFBD>car, at the end of this little alley? Well, I'll tell you. <20>
<EFBFBD>There is a swamp. The swamp is deep and boggy. In fact, my <20>
<EFBFBD>buddy and I could roll this car backwards into the swamp and<6E>
<EFBFBD>it would sink and no one would ever find it. Get it? <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>Don't ever show up here again or bother our friends again or<6F>
<EFBFBD>you will disappear forever." <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>My story teller, a college professor, mind you, laughed. <20>
<EFBFBD>"They took baseball bats and smashed out all of the lights <20>
<EFBFBD>and windows on the car. That's the last we ever saw of the <20>
<EFBFBD>Men In Black." <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>Because of that story I never took The Men In Black very <20>
<EFBFBD>seriously. I was prone to think they were costumed agents of<6F>
<EFBFBD>a paranoid government agency running amok. <20>
<EFBFBD> <20>
<EFBFBD>In the May 1992 edition of Lou Farish's UFO NEWSCLIPPING <20>
<EFBFBD>SERVICE, there is an article that is far more serious than <20>
<EFBFBD>what I have written. The validity of the report is <20>
<EFBFBD>questionable. I don't know any of the people involved, <20>
<EFBFBD>writers or witnesses. That isn't to say the story isn't <20>
<EFBFBD>true. <20>
